Hotel inventory management tips

Seasonal planning, stock turnover and towel rotation strategies that reduce operating costs.
When a hotel's towel inventory is not managed properly, the result is either guest complaints or the cost of unnecessary excess stock.
- The 3:1 Rule: For active use, 3 sets of towels per bed are recommended (in use + in the laundry + in stock).
- Seasonal Stock: Plan 30% additional stock before the high season (March-April). In Turkish coastal hotels, June-September alone accounts for 60% of annual consumption.
- Rotation: Newly purchased towels should not go straight into use. Put them through one wash cycle first (size shrinkage and colour stabilisation).
- Colour Records: White towels lose their colour fastest. After 6 months, a mix of old and new catches the guest's eye. Record colour lots separately.
- Measurement: Prepare a monthly "shortage cost" report — the number of lost/discarded towels. Base your stock decisions on this report.
For supply that fits your inventory plan, work with Nurpak — hotel collection products are made for industrial laundering.
